Built in 1852 by John and Rebecca Gardner, this was a stage coach stop on the Big Trees Carson Valley Road, which was a toll road from 1862 - 1910. The hotel served as a depot for stockmen and as a summer resort.

Noted for it's ice cold spring, it was called Cold Spring Ranch until a post office was established. Rebecca's maiden name was submitted to the postal department and the town has been known as Dorrington since 1902.

Over the years occupants of the historic Inn have often had a reason to believe in the old but persistent legend that Rebecca Dorrington Gardner's ghost still haunts the old hostelry. Don't let the spirits fool you!

 

Today the hotel has been restored and lovingly maintained to provide a gracious and relaxed atmosphere. Cozy quilts, brass beds and handsome antiques fill the five comfortably elegant rooms.

 

 

 

Located just a few short steps from the Hotel, we proudly offer a cozy retreat we call "CABIN SWEET CABIN". This unique cabin boasts a fresh country atmosphere with a large stone fireplace, wood plank floor and luxury spa tub. A queen bed and small kitchen area will complete that home away from home feeling.

 

 

 

As a guest of the Dorrington Hotel a continental breakfast, complete with homemade pastries, cereals, fresh fruit and fresh roasted and ground coffee, will greet you in the dining room.

Holiday Dates:  Presidents, Memorial, Labor, Easter, July 4 th, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years

The following dates have a two night minimum: November 24 th -26 th , all Saturday nights from January 7 th – April 22nd, February 20 th -25 th . May 19 th -20 th , May 26 th -28 th , July 1 st -3 rd , September 1 st -3 rd .

Rates are per room per night, single or double occupancy, including breakfast.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation must be made 7 days prior to reservation date. A $25 fee is applied for each room reservation cancelled. If the reservation is canceled within the 7 day cancellation period, you will be charged for one night unless we can rebook the room for the entire length of the reservation. You must obtain a cancellation confirmation number for any cancellation.
